Trig (
triangulation) points are on top of prominent hills throughout the UK, the Ordnance Survey ones tend to be made of concrete but on land owned by the National Trust they like to do things differently. Great panoramic views of mountains and a lake from this point but no shelter from the weather, I think it is due for a lick of paint.
The colours should be like this, but then this sign is conveniently placed by the side of a road.
The National Trust's motto is "For ever, for everyone"

ReplyDeleteI imagine the top does get the worst of the wind and rain

What a great idea to put the name of the mountain you're on, right on the top! It's also a very pretty sign, looks good out in nature!
ReplyDeleteI actually kind of like the weathered look of the top sign. Looks like it's always been there. It would be a great goal for the climber -- I'd be very proud to say I touched the marker!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely area, and I too like the weathered sign! My camera and I would very much enjoy a stop-over at that scenic spot...:)

The weathered sign does seem to go well with the rock cairn.
ReplyDeleteThe first sign looks like it symbolises a sacred place! Fascinating photos!
ReplyDeleteI like the simplicity of these - it is not cluttered with too much information.
ReplyDeleteThese signs are perfect in their simplicity.
ReplyDeleteWhat you see is what you get. And I like the first photo, the sign looks aged and it makes it more natural. Happy Thursday!
